Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Shame, that tri sounded like a great introduction, but wetsuit/shoulder injury wouldn't let you so much as breastroke or doggy paddle around.

Trouble is said shoulder injury means I can't even ride my bike at the moment. :( It's too painful. I think if my biking was OK I would maybe dogpaddle/leg kick/whatever to get around. Not to be this time. I'm awaiting a triage call regarding my shoulder as I think I need to see someone. I was previously told I still have some instability there, and it did pop out earlier in the year and pop back in again straight away, I didn't get it fixed before because I was pregnant and since then have been looking after the kids. I think it might be time to get it done properly if I can.

It's been OK swimming prior to this, a bit sore but I'd not swum for a while. Open water was a whole new thing for me.

Swam down the length of Loch Lubnaig near Callander with a couple of chums this morning - fab, calm & sunny conditions for just under 5km.
There's an organised 'event' in August but they charge a fortune to do the swim so we diy'd it with a car drop, walk over fields to start & tow floats. Fab swim, highly recommended

I'm currently within 10 minutes drive of beautiful beaches in NSW - but JulesR, I would rather do that! It must have been stunning, & events are usually raced & it's too busy & crowded to appreciate the surroundings. Guessing the temp would be about 15? But with the us on your back :-)

Swim Serpentine 1 mile event this morning - it was a lot of fun, bit quite as polished as the great swim events but then great swim has been going years and it's the first year for swim serpentine.

Still, it was enjoyable, and the medals are huge!

There didn't seem to be a thread devoted to open water swimming, so I thought I'd start one.
