It's a very warm day and for some reason my friend has worn her skinny jeans. The only implement to hand to cut through the seams and render them into shorts is a hacksaw in my car (not me driving home to Suffolk I hasten to add!). It worked but took a couple of minutes. There are a group of aging hippies (doubtless younger than I am now) sitting nearby. They may even have been bloviated. One says to the other, in an awed tone of voice suggesting he has consumed enough chemical product to be serious, "That guy is sawing the chick's leg off..."
