A Jay visited my bird feeder yesterday. First time I’d seen one in my garden! I see them often in the local woods. Very pretty.

It’s coming up to the time of year when jay get busy burying acorns etc for the winter. It’s the season to see them out and about rather than in their usual woodland hide always

Pinkie..and general geese envy! I live in a gooseless county! Chiff singing again and a couple bouncing about the bushes. Good House Sparrow numbers in my garden lately after a period of absence a few weeks ago. About twenty a day now.

Can't contain my excitement! Curlews have moved to the field next door! We have all been leaving our grass uncut and are developing wild flower meadows. I was working in mine this afternoon and the typical, unmistakable sound seemed to come from the bottom of the garden... Spotted in the field beyond the hedge.

It so is Ness! There is always a colony in the field bordering on my old smallholding, a few miles up the road. I hope these are going to establish themselves and are not just visitors. It was fab working on the meadow with their chitter chatter in the background!
