Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

The travelator at Sainsbury's did not break while I was half-way up it with a heavy trolley.

But I must admit, in maybe five years since the shop opened, it is the first time a travelator or lift has broken.

[ frequently about half of them are out of service, and there is no redundancy ]

Also, nearly everybody in Redhill could find something better to do this afternoon than go to Sainsbury's.

Do I really have to explain - again - to you, a 53-year-old, that crisp packets can't go in the recycling?

[Ditto tetrapaks, although we once could put them in the recycling bin that hasn't been the case for about eight years, yet I still have to constantly remind my household. And fish out the non-rexyclable things. And then wonder why I even pick this particular battle because I suspect the vast majority isn't recycled anyway :( ]

I have to say something very similar every time to OH Carp. It's not crisp packets but it's the same sort of 'crinkly' stuff - wrappers round biscuits etc.

[Some supermarkets will take plastic packaging along with bags for recycling. It does mean having to remember to take them with you though when you go shopping. I'm always forgetting until I end up with a huge amount cluttering the house!]

I keep a bag for all the soft plastics these days and deposit them at the supermaket. It's amazing how quickly they mount up.
