Why this country doesn't understand the Long Black concept in coffee. Like a double espresso, but then with a bit of water added.

No, we have the choice of a tiny, extra strong coffee... or a bucket of weak, watery stuff. Nothing in between.

Do you mean an americano or a lungo, RunningRonnie? Sounds like the latter.

It reminds me of when a genuine Italian restaurant opened near me. At opening, I asked the Italian waiter for a latte and received a glass of milk. Now, I'm always careful to specificy a cafe americano, not waiting some kind of new world cowhand to come.

Yeah, I think a Lungo is the Italian name for it. I've always ordered it in France - "café allonge"

Yep - and my take on the flat white is a latte with about half the milk.

Technically a lungo doesn't have extra water added to it - it's just a long shot run through an espresso puck (I believe) to give a ratio of maybe 1:3.5/4 coffee grounds to water. 17g coffee to 68g of coffee extracted in about 40-50s

An americano would be a normal shot (probably a double) of 1:2 ratio coffee grounds to water (extracted in about 25s) then topped up with about 2x the amount of extra water; so a 17g puck, 34g espresso, with 68g of water.
