[Prompted by alpenrose's comment of remembering thinking 6 miles was really long and not imagining being able to do it, I remember telling some guys at squash club that I was training for a marathon and someone saying, "Oh speak to X, he's done 6". And I remember thinking, liar, no one would ever do 6 marathons! That's mad!! Crazy things former non-runners say / think?!]

When I joined Reading Roadrunners the coach running my induction pointed out someone who had run over 500 marathons. At the time I *knew* it was only possible for the human body to cope with three a year and couldn't quite compute what I was being told!

The runner in question will complete his 1000th in December, I'm fairly sure he is not 333 years old :-)

[There used to be one, but it may have been a general getting shouted at whilst running thread, this thread used to exist too, but I couldn't find it so I kicked this one off]
