im a XC newbie so be gentle
im wondering about XC shoes. race im looking at is only a fun run but i know it can be muddy and starts/finishes in a village so has some (if small) amount of road. What kinda shoe should i look at. I dont want to be sliding all over the shop in an old pair of road shoes i want something that can get me through the mud! can you wear spikes if there is a small bit of road or is it a no-no?
thanks

at XC it is always best to think position rather than time.
