looking forward to my race tomorrow, in Bramcote Hills park which is geologically the end of the pennines. some nice little climbs in the woods, but nothing too strenuous i hope.

Conditions in Richmond Park were really good for the Dysart / Ellis - I wore spikes (to Gobi's philosophy.... if in doubt...) but really could have done with my Inov-8s. Fabulous day - stunning blue sky :-)

haha Gobi - your all seeing eyes miss nothing.... i can see have evaluated precisely the benefit (c. 300m patch of squdigy stuff plus some firmish grass) versus 100m of concrete and have adjudged accordingly!

Good race though - fantastic course, really stunning. if any x-c'ers get the chance of a league run out (it's out from Pembroke Lodge/Sidmouth Wood to the Ballet school and back), i'd definitely recommend it.

I've only done one XC. It was hilly and mostly mud. Also tricky as the 'path' wasn't level, there was nearly always a sideways slope as demonstrated in this pic of Anna who was cruising along near the end.

I think I was the only person in our team NOT to fall over. Most were wearing 12mm spikes, I had my X-Talons on for the first time. However, I think this may have had more to do with my balance :P

That one looks like fun, Slickster:)

I'm going along for another tryout of my club's course tomorrow-am hoping that someone will invent a spray or something that will make shoes mud repellant! When I tried the course out the other week, we ran up the side of a ploughed field and my shoes had tripled in weight by the time I got to the top:( I much prefer the sloppier mud that you can just splosh through...

That looks very slippy indeed. My X-Talons and Mudclaws work very well in grass or firmish mud or a mixture of that but I wouldn't fancy trying to run in that stuff withot spikes. Hmmm, I must give this XC lark a try sometime :-)

You'll all need to sharpen up your spikes for the National CC at Parliment Hill. No point in starting in anything less than 12mm spikes!! lol Course will be frozen solid this year!!

Ian, Don't your club compete in the Booth Decorators XC league? I think there are three races remaining in the series ;-)
