I thought it was a bit pointless TBH, other than to give relief the embattled East.

Maybr they want to check out how the F-16's work for aircover

Don't worry folks, it's all under control was TV's line last night. We're driving them out back to Ukraine and anyone displaced is being looked after.

But Putin didn't look happy as his CGS was briefing him. He seemed quite on edge in fact. Nervous, twitchy.

I don't know what the Ukrainians are up to but it's pissing Putin off so far!

Ukraine's "special military operation" into the Kursk region seems to be rattling the Russians. It's also doing real damage if some of the stuff on soshul meeja is to be believed. Killing contract soldiers in battle in Ukraine is one thing, doing it to conscripts inside Russia is another.

Very noticeable on last night's TV was the lack of reports from the scene. They just repeated the usual official bullshit claims of driving back the invaders, huge casualties inflicted etc etc.

Interesting if somewhat sceptical analysis:

Part of me thinks they had to do something to change the game, as it were.

The status quo was that Ukraine was slowly losing inch by bloody inch in the east, while sporadically blowing up shit in Crimea. This rattles Putins game plan, shocks the Russian people & might inspire some of the more reluctant Ukrainian people to do their duty.

What’s going to happen? Is there a risk they’ll become encircled? What about a tactical nuclear strike if they continue progressing?

I suspect Biden, old and soft as we think he is had let Putin know Moscow will be turned to glass if they do that.

Zelensky is playing a game of brinkmanship pretty well, he'll need to pull his forces back before they get encircled and it turns into a PR disaster.

That Ukraine is getting well the info or needs from the west helps.

Blowing up that bridge hampers Russias effort to strike back.

I'm hoping this is the thing that brings people, genuinely to the table
