A lot of reporting on Russian TV this evening about the cross-border raids from Ukraine into Russia's Belgorod oblast (province). Lots of destruction, some casualties, what looks like a mass evacuation from one town. A correspondent goes to an accommodation centre for people displaced by the fighting. Elderly woman: "How could these Ukrainians do such a thing? We used live alongside each other, who are they fighting against?" The sense of victimhood is strong. |

And Putin was saying we could of course respond in kind and target their civilian infrastructure ... as if his invaders haven't been doing that all along. The Russians live in a looking-glass world where everything is the other way round. |
