This guy keeps writing pieces in the Grauniad advocating appeasement, don't prod the bear, don't escalate etc. If this were the 1930s he'd be saying let Hitler keep Sudetenland and he won't bother us any more. Darth Putin as ever is right on the money. |

Simon Jenkins is reliably on the wrong side of every debate about everything.

I am aware of this guy. It's all very well having a journalistic opinion, but it's a bit of a stretch to consider that all Guardian readers support an appeasement policy. Shame on him, such writing only serves to sway public opinion.

One could argue that the West is already scaling back its support for Ukraine -- the US certainly is as Moscow Mike Johnson and others cringe before the orange man -- but no sign of Putin scaling back his invasion. I despair at the naivety of Jenkins and others who churn out this crap, and at the ignorance and cowardice of the Maga bunch.

Thanks NE, I read the Guardian and certainly don't support appeasing that twat Putin. Bit pissed off at Germany using bloody WebEx for what should be secret discussions, also give Ukraine Taurus, yes they can use it strike inside Russia, hopefully right up Putin's ass. Reported damage to a brand spanking new black sea fleet vessel this morning. Keep the pressure on guys. |

The naivety of Jenkins and his ilk also make me despair, they don't look very far. While all this stuff is going on in Ukraine, Russia is using what resources it has to be a continual pain to Western NATO forces. There has been a terrific upswing in out-of-area BEAR deployments for example, there was a pair of the buggers over the North Sea only the other day. And you can bet there are going to be Russian SSNs lurking around the Gap, this is not a bloody game - it's serious. People need to wake up to reality.

Just going back to the intercepted German communications that Rich refers to above, here is a Telegram resume posted by a pro-Russia hack. Apologies to those of you that don't read Russian, but you may care to use Google Translate or something - it's worth the effort. t.me |

Margarita Simonyan's commentary reminds me of 1984.

The Russians have been making a great song and dance about those intercepts. And they picked up on the bit about British personnel being on the ground. Dunno what the problem is, they're just admiring some cathedrals. |
