I'm quite excited to find that I have, I think, a pair of banned shoes. Elite at last! New Balance FuelCell Propel: not actually on the list (too cheap, I expect) but the similar FuelCell Prism is, and I've had the measuring tape out as well. I suppose, for the list, shoes have been submitted, and carved open, but how would officials at a meet measure them? The max height on mine looks like 40mm, but the outside foam actually comes up above the true underfoot height, which is more like 32mm. (Ā£40 from Sports Direct. All foam, no plate. Whattdya want at that price!?) |

Steve, Pete - what glowing recommendations! Iām away for a few days now but there are some in the shopping basket ready to be checked out a bit later in the week. Thanks!

Very tempted by a pair of those, Dvorak, as general training shoes for reduced leg damage, if they actually work like that. I'd be tempted to use them for hard training sessions on the basis that my legs would be less beaten up the next day, as is frequently reported with the new supershoes, but as speed is unimportant for training sessions I wouldn't need the PEBAX foam and carbon plates.

They aren't carved open, they're measured with calipers. There's a UKA link with how they're measured somewhere. It's about the underfoot height including any sockliner not 'decorative' outer sole pieces that come above the height of the sole underfoot.

From the way my legs felt yesterday, two days after racing five miles in Vaporfly 4%, I'm not signing up to the "legs less beaten up" school of thought. That pair is over two years old and has done almost 200 miles of racing. They still seem fine, with the sole in decent condition and the upper looking like new, but I'm going to crack out a new pair for my 10k next week. And having predicted that the local roads would shred the soles of my ZFFs in less than 300 miles, they've just passed 500 miles and are probably good for a few hundred more. Like the VFs, they're just fun to run in. |

WW - just checking that you're aware that Endorphin Pro v2 is coming out in a couple of weeks (in case you like to have the latest), and may also mean v1 gets reduced in price. From what I've read it's just an upper change (for the better), the midsole and outsole are identical |

J2R, I'm pretty sure you would feel you got your Ā£40 worth. I've run a two mile time trial on a blaes track, and my first 10K distance for a while, on mainly towpath, on them this week. And though I hadn't thought on it before, my legs have felt untroubled. Not boinging on them but they feel accomodating, and more for a good effort than a casual jog. I think the medium drop, 6mm, means they don't feel stacked up. My 10K was actually a lot slow for them and I did feel a bit of tightness a couple of times during. (So I just need to run faster )

I have blogged about the Nike Vaporfly Next% for those interested (I ran my first marathon with them last weekend and I made a comparison to the same event 2 years ago) fetcheveryone.com/blog/60676 PS: please comment! Still desperate for a badge! |

Oh bugger! I have not been following the thread but did I just read that the Next % have been banned? They were definitely not banned when I bought them last year and then of course all my bloody races were cancelled. Is my new PB a fraud? Gutted! |

Or are they only banned on track? My marathon was a road race.
