Phew, indeed! And if they ban it in future, they can't take my pb back, right? Not sure I can be arsed running another marathon and certainly not at that pace!

Adidas have launched a 50mm stack height shoe (Prime X) which costs £220 and sold out in nanoseconds when it went on general release yesterday. Not race legal anywhere, some saying they are just to enable quicker efforts/faster recovery. Not sure I believe that people forking out that sort of cash aren't planning to try and race in them, guess we'll find out soon enough. Nike have had Next% Tempo (£170) out for a while which also breaches the limit for road races (not by as much) but I think they are so similar looking to Alphafly with the airpods that people will get away with that. All looks like a bit of a mess for those trying to stick to the rules, and those tasked with checking. |

Not good really. Definitely think some will try and get away with it and in road I'd have thought it would be pretty easy to. Shoe doping is going to be an official thing, lol.

Regarding “race legal”, do all amateur road races in the UK adhere to specific rules on shoes? As part of UKA licence or whatever?

A rollback is what I'd have liked but it was never going to happen. I don't do road anyway but looks like track is getting reset as well.

jda, According to this, any race held under UKA rules has to follow the list of permitted shoes as set out by World Athletics: uka.org.uk Think it's a grey area if you want to rock up at your local ParkRace in oversized spacehoppers, but I would hope the race director would taser you for doing it anyway |
