Re even pacing- worked for me in Edinburgh, but felt unnaturally slow initially, what with the crowds, fresh legs and adrenaline!

That's it Ade. If it feels "wrong" to run such a slow pace in first half, then you've probably got it right! That's my experience. :-)G

Welcome ChrisMc :-) good to see another 'local' on here - you have done a lot of similar races to me! Based on your other shorter distance PBs, the sub-3:30 should be well within your reach with the right endurance base. When is your next marathon?

heebie, sounds like you are more comfortable with taking the pressure off going for 3:30 - makes sense. you are due a massive marathon PB and would be a shame to blow it. who knows what will happen on the day though! keep us all posted how it goes...

heebie, I'd like to reiterate what clare says above... I initially targetted (and failed) sub 3:30 at VLM this year, but achieved it a week later at Manchester when I just went with the intention of enyoing the run. Who knows what you can achieve with the pressure off?

HI Clare, havent got a marathon planned yet, probably spring time. Got race the train in August (14 xc) and training for that (12 mile mixed terrain running) is good based for marathon. After Race the Train general plan is to get some long runs in and then spring world record breaking marathon :)

Hi All, just catching up. Did the Otmoor Challenge half marathon a week or two back, just trying out c.7:40 min miling as an average pace. Feels comfortable (finished in 1:38) but I know that keeping that sort of pace up for 26 miles is going to be a whole different ballgame :)
