Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

I sometimes dip in (and out when I get scared!) of the 3:15 and 3:00 threads - have picked up useful training tips on PMP type runs which I probably otherwise wouldn't have tried so much in training. Smout, you will be at home in the 2:45 one way before I am in the 3:15!!!

Go for it Heebie, sounds fab. Keep us posted on how your training goes (hope the achilles niggle is okay now?)

Have updated header with those mentioned for 2012 - keep 'em coming folks :-)

Ooooh I'm in the header! Better get to it now.

I think the Achilles problem is minor. The pain vanishes as soon as I've warmed up properly and this morning I managed to walk across the bedroom first thing without too much of a sharp intake of breath on putting full weight on my foot. Hopefully it's getting better.

Is anyone up for a sub 3:30 attempt at Edinburgh. I am and trying to find a few people to form a posse.

Heebs - I had a similar achilles problem for about 2 months and it just seems to have disappeared now. (famous last words!)

I very much doubt I'll be trying 3:30 before 2013 now.

Good Luck and Welcome Bryano :-)

Sounds positive re the achilles Heebie, fingers x'd.

Flanker, still 2 weeks til Windy - it's one of your fave's isn't it? Can you have a mini 'taper' for it or have you got crazy big distances between now and then?

Well If today's parkrun and scales are anything to go by I have lost my 3:34 fitness and ate too many cakes in the last 5 weeks. That's the kick up the bum to start training in earnest for Abingdon!!! :)

Clare - a 40 miler the weekend before. And 10 miles on this Monday killed me. Four marathons in April have taken too much out of me.

I'll not race Windy, and wait for GF to pace me round to 3:2x next year.

A question to all the recent sub 3:30'ers if I may. My 5k PB is 21:02. Think with a month of base running I will be near that level again. So in readiness for abingdon do you think I need to work my endurance or base speed to go from 3:34 to sub 3:30? I know the answer will be " have a balanced training program" but also know that I can focus it a little so that my long runs are slower / faster / longer etc. so should i spend the summer focusing on Speed or endurance? Any comments appreciated ! Thanks
