Lab testing done, will post more when I get there full results sheet, but the VO2Max number came out as 68, which is way higher than I'd have expected. No vomit, happily, and interesting session! Β£90 well spent, in my world anyway!

68 is a very big number. Was it actually measuring oxygen directly (breathing through a tube)?

Daniels VDOT of 68 gives a 2.26 Marathon so you must be slacking ;)

Last time I did a lab test, it was 61, and one person had a score of 80 (it was free as part of a trial). No-one had a believable one , I think we all concluded there had been some oxygen leaking in. The masks were quite loose fitting.

It was a face mask open to the air with an oxygen sensor on the pathway through. Reputable place that does it a lot, so no reason to doubt that the numbers are kosher (the facilitator is a PhD student doing bicarb research at a local Uni), but I do agree it is a high number objectively. I must be appallingly inefficient!!

Mask was tight and secure, and to be fair I do think I've got decent lungs on me (woodwind player as a youngster). I think I'll get a spreadsheet back with all of the data, so will probe a little more when I see it.

The question is what difference does it make to you in terms of training? I'd presume if you trained at the number it wouldn't work out very well. Need other data with it TBH (eg lactate). Presume it was only VO2 max given you didn't mention anything else.

Garmin has me at 59, and I got a 59,9 or something like that on my V02max lab test.
