Your level streaking is quite something though Baz! Cycles and runs, mostly 8+ miles etc!! Out of my league I'm afraid! But fear of stopping will at least spur me on!

Ive been overdoing it of late and got into the last 4 of Who Squares Wins , but have decided tonight I need to scale back as I am absolutely knackered and need a good sleep tonight.

I'm doing a race, not much else around for motivation, so I suppose I had to crack an enter one sooner or later. Looking at the guidelines from UKAA , a little surprised there isn't more, the rules certainly aren't that prohibitive or draconian. Hoping the best 100-200 best half marathon runners in the county are still self-isolating, you never now hey?

Chrisull, not trying to burst your bubble this early on a Wednesday morning, but at the small number of events going on around here (Devon), the faster runners have been out in abundance, itching to get out and toe the start line, it seems.... At the two events I've done I have felt very safe; I would have entered more but I've picked up a niggle that I'm just getting over now.

Enjoy that Chris, I found the one race I did a lot of fun and I’ve entered another for next month.

As for the standard. It was a 4 lap 10k, I ran 36:50 and got lapped 🤣!

(I did start a bit too far back in the queue before anyone spends too much time on the maths!)

Must admit I'm tempted to sign up for a December 6th race at Oulton Park racing circuit where there are options for 5k, 10k, HM, 16m, 20m and marathon, but given my 2020 knack of picking races that look good to go and then get cancelled I think the money might be best staying in my bank account.

I think I've found my steady state: 5-6 runs per week, 1500-1600 miles per year, 12-18 miles for a long run, but not every weekend. Almost all off road and slow. And proper training and speed only if races loom. Happy to plod like that for another 20 years, if I'm spared! :-) G

The part of me that wants to make sure I'm fit and healthy envies that ability to settle into something steady like that. But fundamentally I'm a lazy being and that overwhelms the fit and healthy drive. It's only when I add personal competitiveness and a committment to an unavoidable plan to the fit and healthy drive, that can I overcome the laziness it seems.

So hopefully the 100 day streak will add those sparks!

Last 10k I did I got lapped twice (for 2+km) and finished last in 40:50 :-)

And that was a seeded race for the 37+ min crowd (the lapper was a late entry in wrong category).

JDA, I managed 19:23 at a local 5K and finished 35th out of 60. At my local parkrun that would "win" (I know you don't "win" at a parkrun, but you know what I mean...) on some weeks. Top 12 at the event were under 17mins and 42 were sub-20.
