Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Didn't know anyone still read RW, let alone their schedules!! :-) I found after about 4-5 years that everything was pretty much a regurgitation of something they had done previously (recipes for muffins, how to stretch, short cut to a better you etc) so gave up the print version a couple of years ago, which felt a shame and gave up on online articles a few months ago. I don't miss it. The articles I enjoyed were the old John Bingham ones and Paul Tonkinson. They would generally have a massive article in the middle that I would wade through dutifully but never changed the world (for me).

I got bought a sub for 12 months once, agree that Tonks was a decent read - I now enjoy him via the Running Commentary podcast instead.

Their articles still hit highly with google searches though, hence that para that I derided.

I started getting RW for free as the magazines on offer from a promotion I had weren't very extensive. I used to get it 15 years ago and they still seem to publish the same thing:

- Photograph of attractive man/woman on cover (usually a model I'm guessing).

- "How to run your fastest 5k on *2 weeks training/celery/your heels/your toes/barefoot/naked*"
-" How to lose weight by *2 weeks training/celery/running on your heels/running on your toes/running barefoot/running naked*"
- Article from a celebrity (??) who "used to drink 16 bottles of vodka a day and now runs a sub 15 5k" (because they started running barefoot and now only eat celery).

I shouldn't be so cynical. I did meet one of the RW journalists once who was very nice and I was mentioned as the winner in one of their featured races.

Jeez, been running all those years and no-one's told me before I should run naked while drinking a bottle of voddie and eating celery. I'll get on to that tomorrow. Cheers BR :-)

I don’t subscribe to RW but I was featured once. They came to take pics of me and they looked after me very well with freebies etc :)
