Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,

99!

I ran this morning lark, even managed a few tempo miles at a slightly slower lick than I might have normally expected. Warm but no issues. Looks like it was a beautiful morning for a bike commute (if there is any beauty in having to go to work at all!).

Yes, I sniggered at your "3:30 shape" post yesterday after seeing your tempo miles today ;-)

It was just about perfect for riding, the only downside was the flies under the trees on the cyclepath that makes up 10m of the route - a bit of extra protein for breakfast...

:-D

Oh, I can run round the block a few times at 6 min/mile pace but that's a far cry from being able to complete 26.2 at 8 min pace!! Even if I could get to 15-18 miles at 7 min/miles it's still a fast walk required to get in by 3:30!!!

I'm having a chilled week running. Picked a good week for it! Might put in a bit of effort on Saturday but not checked the forecast yet.

I'm sure you'll get into the required shape if necessary WW.

WW - lol round the block at 6mins, before a 3:30.

I'd probably be sub 3 before doing anything sub 6 minuting for anything over a lap of the track.

Went out a lunch it was toasty, oh well it'll burn off a few more lbs

I went out at lunch time - but it's not as hot up here, only 24C. Only mad dogs and English men...?

Contrary to WW I could probably squeeze in under 3:30 for a marathon but like Joe 6 min mile pace, even for a mile, just isn't happening (probably not ever again).

I ran at 4:30 with the dog, it wasn't too bad then but it's >30 degrees now. I won't go out as I'm not English!

Some really great stories on here about Marathon day triumphs and failures!

No DNF’s for me so far! 🤞🏻

7 Marathons entered, all PB attempts!

Debut - 2013 - Kent Coastal Marathon - 3:27:44 (Sub 3:30 attempt)

2 - 2014 - London Marathon - 3:20:40 (Went from not being able to walk down a flight of stairs without pain back end of 2013(ITBS),to this. Respect to the Physio who said he would get me on the start line on my first appointment! Also the only time I ran for charity so was nice to raise some money for a good cause (Children With Cancer UK) and was really looked after by them at the end! Felt like an elite! 😎

3 - 2015 - Halstead & Essex Marathon - 3:19:58 (Was a sub 3:15 attempt and I think I hit half way around 1:32:30......then I slowed down! I remember nice scenery and lots of hills!)

4 - 2016 - Abingdon Marathon - 3:03:24 (Really enjoyed the race and was ecstatic at the end! Target was sub 3:15 but my training had gone up a notch and just ran as fast as I could. Barely looked at the watch!

5 - 2017 - Milton Keynes Marathon - 2:59:36 (Originally a sub 3:05 attempt but saw the sub 3 pacer and the rest is history! Brilliant day! 😎

6 - 2018 - London Marathon - 3:22:32 (Sub 2:55 attempt! IT WAS HOT! ☀️🥵 I think I was on course for the first 5 miles but remember thinking how hard it felt! An emotional time that almost broke me! If it wasn’t London, I would have dropped out! A 9:17 24th mile tells you everything you need to know! In my top 3 hardest/shittist races I’ve ever done! Running with Jock Itch while he was drinking a can of beer and had the crowd in the palm of his hand, was one of the few highlights!

7 - 2019 - Abingdon Marathon - 2:54:25 (Sub anything between 2:54:59-2:59:59 attempt! 😄 What more can be said about it! Read Bazoaxe and Windsor Wool’s brilliant race blogs! My most enjoyable and successful race to date! I owe a lot to WW’s top notch pacing! Baz’s first sub 3! It was the most perfect day!

Roll on 2021 when we can all meet at the start line again!
