It's 10 flights of stairs to my desk at work. There's a lift.

But I strolled up all 10 this morning - remarkable!! I'm even thinking of having a little bimble about tonight if the weather plays ball.

I didn't give enough kudos to everyone else yesterday when I was wrapped up in my own celebratory mood - but well done to Baz, HappyG, AJLB, Brunski, KinkyS. All good runs in their own different ways.

Hope the travelling back up was hassle free for those who had more than the 13 miles home that I had to go.

Now I just need a plan for 2018...

Very wise Baz. After a big effort you (and your body) deserve a rest.

Actually, I had a mind to run some XC this year - so that's a few weekends of races sorted, but nothing until early Nov. Maybe Conwy Half too in late Nov, a nice day out with the family.

TO be honest if I do run tonight it will be just for strava kudos...

My son loves XC, I'm not one for enjoying the mud though - never liked getting dirty! But might as well give it a go while I'm fit, and I'll be in the same races as him now that he's in the U20s (they run with the seniors), so I'd just be hanging around otherwise!

Just did the maths on the half way split - 13.1 according to the log on here in 1:36:12, back in 1:38:17, so a 2:05 +ve split.

The pacer I was with had a chip time of 3:15:01, have to give them massive kudos for getting that right. First half is definitely easier as a course anyway, so I think their 2:30 +ve split (estimating) seems reasonably sensible, whether it was wholly intentional or not.

Cross Country is good prep for the finish at Chester racecourse :-O

I was 1:29:57 to halfway and 1:32:11 in 2nd half so 2:11 positive split which in my book is even pacing - especially as the 2nd half is the harder part of the route!

I have reviewed the splits in a bit more detail and the 2 miles from 11-13 where my garmin lost satellites seem to have been done in about 7:15mm pace which kind of explains my surprise at halfway as I had expected to get there about 1:29:30 and the splits I saw up until 11 were consistent with that time. Not sure why we slowed a bit there as we did from 13 get back on pace

Also annoyingly my manual lap of 21 and 25 were at wrong place so those are out. 21 I saw a 21 mile line on the road and lapped but it turned out to be last years hence why it was almost un-seeable. 25 I lapped at the mile marker when the line on the road was about 20 seconds further on. That is also annoying as the lap suggests I help 7:04mm pace up Sandy lane which is clearly wrong.

Have a day off larkim. Running the day after a raced marathon, not the best idea. Chill out for a bit.
