ROFL.

Delighted (and not entirely surprised) to see that my wava scores are in perfect distance order, marathon better than half, better than 10k, better than 5. Of course I've only ever really trained for the marathon with the others mostly run as benchmarks along the way or afterwards as a bit of fun. But also, I'm painfully slow at the short stuff, as is obvious at the club interval sessions.

Got the 12 with 7 tempo done. HR was pushing the upper bounds of where it should be but I also pushed the pace a bit too so not surprising.

But relieved to get that out of the way!

Nice one. I did my 12miles MLR, just 5 in the morning (parkrun+), then the little matter of Maidenhead Half. Considering how my legs feel at the moment I don't think I'll be PBing, but I might start out at PMP and see how I feel.

Snotty nose since Thu. Missed my intervals. Hopefully clears soon. Well done on MP guys. Not sure I'll bother tomorrow. Just a plod will be better than nothing

Putting the Grrrr in HappyG(rrr) that snotty nose I suppose? Hope it passes quickly.

Family trip down to Chester parkrun to meet up with a friend were not seen for years and I was appointed to run with my 8 year old to meet parkruns h&s policy. Looking for an nice easy run for me he decides it's PB time and merrily crushes a 24:43. All whilst constantly pulling up his shorts as they were a bit loose on him! Not as speedy as his oldest brother who cruised to 17:54 on the way back from a groin strain, but not bad for some little legs. His Wava is nearly better than mine :-)

South Cheshire 20 tomorrow, weather looks ok. 5 at easy pace then 15 at PMP whilst checking pre race nutrition and mid race gels and water for something of race day simulation.

Interesting conversation about WAVA, but when you say you but more effort into marathon than 5k/10k you're ignoring the fact your training doesn't care what you're focusing on, it improves the factors that your training hits (which isn't necessarily what you want it to hit).

Nick Symmonds 800m mileage in his PB year: m.facebook.com

Many would think that is 10k plus mileage. Obviously there were targeted sessions in there but hopefully you get my point.

Yep that's a fair point. It's been said before that marathon plans for most amateurs look more like 5k or 10k plans for elites, minus the top end speed work.
