We got up at 4:30an and have travelled up to Lancaster services. We are having a couple of hours here before going up to Coniston. Leisurely travelling in the sunshine. We came early to avoid the traffic but the M62 was already busy at 5:30am.

We're going to Settle next month XB to escape our new streets coronation street party 😂

I've been to Kirby Lonsdale before so excited to show Hubby the hills and trains.

Towards the end of my working life I found myself being interviewed for a job in That London by a young chap with lots of hair with too much Brylcreem on it who was also wearing loafers and no socks. It was another data point on my “get me the hell outa here” chart.

I get emails offering me highly paid locum work every day. They make me quite cross because I know that the agency will be charging the NHS organisations twice as much as they're offering to pay me, which in turn is above the going rate for an NHS GP on a contract or in a partnership without a load of side hustles.

I've resisted a few. A couple of the recruiters/employers had to be reminded they had come to me and needed to sell me the job, not vice versa. I wasn't looking and was quite happy how I was. That changed the 'interview' dynamic.

Coming up to 6 years later, I still keep paying my professional subs but I'm wondering if it's time to turn that in. Since it's really only my pride or something that means I keep them. They're on a 3 year cycle, so I guess it will be another 3 years 'just in case' when they next come up.

I briefly saw Seattle. Quite fancy going there, but Settle would do.

Also saw the Which? thing because I get weekly emails from them. It didn't scare me back to work.

Quite the opposite for me. The numbers still seem within my ambit. Currently thinking about giving up completely next year rather than the year after. Happy with my choice for now though.
