We brought ourselves the wobblebox as a reiteiement present and it was well worth it. We have come away today to Essex and have I been for a couple of lovely walks with the dog, we have eaten and now chilling. Tomorrow we shall explore - loving life 😁 |

um
My retirement present from work was money, mainly because they knew I'd spend it on a camera or lens and they knew me well enough to let me choose what I really wanted. Retirement presents to ourselves? First was the conservatory we'd always wanted, then a long stay/tour to Australia. So good we repeated it. And a long trip to US, Grand (or is it Great?) Circle of National and State Parks (LV, Hoover, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Arches, Dead Horse, Canyonlands, Bryce, Kodachrome Basin, Zion, Death Valley). All because they needed 4 weeks or so, so not that practical while working. They would have been repeted a few more times had Covid not disrupted travel. Holidays in UK? Well, SWCP, Peaks and Lake District 'cottage' rental for a week. Out of term time and generally last minute so reduced further. Averaging 4 or 5 a year, which feels about right. As I am this week, just outside Newquay, filling in gaps in the SWCP |

That's our plan too, um. Lots of last minute holiday cottage rentals and a few big ticket excursions.

We don't go away in school holidays if we can help it. We are off to Norfolk the week before half term, France in June for 3 weeks and then Northumberland/Scotland/Lakes for 5 weeks when the schools are back in September |

Also doing the holiday travel thing (currently connected to Ironman racing). Arizona, Nevada, Utah last October (with half Ironman world champs), trying to qualify for full Ironman world champs in Nice this Sept and have a place in Hawaii in October 2024. Tons of assorted weekends away too. It’s a brilliant life and I absolutely love it 😁 |

Obviously not retired yet and it will be my 60th so will have to think of a nice ‘to me’ present. I did buy myself a new car and a personal number plate as a divorce / early 50th present so not sure how to top that. |
