I must be lucky, bar one toxic line manager from over five years ago, I've really enjoyed the company of the people I've met in the workplace.

Age I think reduces our tolerance on that although we will get on and do stuff we won't accept it as much and more inclined to say it do something about it rather than accept it

It's the reverse for me, EP. I have more empathy and understanding with age. Or perhaps I just choose my battles more selectively?

I haven't bothered to stay in touch with any colleagues from school even though I worked with them for five years. On the other hand, a group of colleagues I had also for five years as an Ed Welfare Officer are firm friends and we meet up to have a pub meal together at least once a month. Some people make you feel part of a team, others don't.

Absolutely, LazyDaisy. I also haven’t kept in touch with my ex school colleagues either.

I worked for over 30 years in my last job, but we were subject to a takeover in 2000. I meet with a group of “original” colleagues twice a year - and one person from the “acquirer” fitted in with “us”.

I miss quite a few if my colleagues but I’m keeping in touch. I was lucky to work with lots of great people over 30 years with the company.

I left one job because of a toxic environment - American company with a rapacious CEO surrounded by lickspittles of a similar stripe. The poison dripped down to all levels. I don't miss them.

I must've been very lucky. I always found my job interesting and enjoyable, and the company always treated us exceptionally well. The various bosses I've had have all been very good too, with one exception - a nice enough chap, but utterly out of his depth, and he was shuffled sideways after a few months.

Decision time on whether to consolidate my five pensions now. We spoke to some advisers from The Penny Group earlier this year - the only connection there is that we had our life insurance (for mortgage) from Zurich and I think they've been bought by the Penny Group, who offered a pension review.
It was useful as I discovered that my biggest pension is in a very conservative fund - unnecessarily conservative given that I'm not looking to retire for over 10 years (I'm 54 now) and it could be delivering more for me. Also one of my others is lined up to turn into an annuity, which I definitely don't want.
They suggested a way forward; I wanted to think about it. Now it's got to the point where I either go for it or say no by mid-June, as they'd have to redo all the calculations after that point.
I don't really want to manage things myself with a SIPP just yet. I guess I could see if I could move the conservative pension into something more ambitious within the same provider (Aviva, so lots of options as far as I understand it) but not sure whether that's possible as it was part of a big group pension.
Will do a bit more research but right now I think I'm minded to go for it. What I lose in fees I should more than make up for in better returns. And I've established that I can move it again if I want to at a later date.
