A few years before I eventually retired, I had asked for 3/5ths or 4/5ths part time work to ease the stress, but I was refused. I never got a sensible reply when I asked why that wasn't sexual discrimination when two women in the department had been allowed 1/2 part time work.
The boss himself retired a year or so later, and a decent boss came in so the stress wasn't quite so bad, but by then I had decided I was going to go as early as possible so I didn't ask again. Besides by continuing to work full time for those last few years, I was able to leave earlier.

Glide path is just an approach to an airfield or ship. There are special lights and the radar operators will guide them in via certain set distances and altitudes eg. 1 mile/500ft, 2 miles/1000ft etc

Unfortunately at my work there will nothing they can to ease/glide whatever me into retirement. I have already told my boss I no longer enjoy my role

She was very understanding actually. Also backed me if I really want to retire although she doesn’t want me to go but like I say I know they can’t create a role just for me.

That's very nice ... sounds like a good boss.

I've been asked by mine ( gently ) if there's any real point asking if I'd stay on 6 months ? ... but stating that if he was in my place he'd be out the door ASAP !!
