Call with manager earlier.... there is a 12 month training academy opportunity available for one person in our business, he was sending an email to the business unit leads and then said would you like me to nominate you? Me: thank you for the offer but I think its better going to someone else, I don't intend being here long enough for the business to benefit for the training opportunity it affords. Him: oh, ok. Me to self: I would barely see the training course out hahaha |

well I have just had an email to say I have received an impact award for my work at the conference... wow. I might manage to stay until April 2026!

I am properly struggling this week. I used to be able to say “I’ve worked for worse companies…”. Not sure that’s true any more. |

As a number on this thread (and life in general) seem to be at best unhappy/frustrated/mental health challenged at work. I personally would value myself more than a holiday (or 2) . Especially when we have no idea what if any years we have left. As you were, sorry for intrusion. Absolutely @HappyTimes - my life is worth considerably more than £10k extra to me (and the bonus is nowhere near that!), but since my bonus is a regular part of my "reward" that I've worked for I wasn't going to sacrifice it for a month or so's effort! I'm not frustrated/unhappy so much, but simply "done here"! And because I have no idea what the future holds, I'm planning on enjoying whatever I have more than simply existing at work. |

I have 80 working days left. Just completed all mid year appraisals, which is always a relief. 4 more trips to my outstation. Can almost smell the freedom now.

We had a day out today to Peebles. About 20 miles south of Edinburgh. Way back when the kids were young my employer had a building here with flats and some cottages. A perk was a cheap week away and we had many fun times there. Today it felt quite relaxed and I was thinking, maybe I could retire here. It’s a nice wee place. Lovely river and walks. Options for runnning, cycling and walking. It likely won’t happen, but seemed to be a very different pace of life that I would enjoy. Oh, and three of my grandparents hail from that neck of the woods. |

It really does TR - sweetened that the work I’d been doing on ‘what I do’ document had disappeared into thin air and had to be redone.

Peebles is nice Bazo. I visited that SL building running when we lived there for a year early 2000s. It had a tennis court too I think. Took far to commute daily. Great place if retired. G
