Also, I don't believe a country's "success" or prosperity has to be measured in GDP. Happiness index is much better measure. And you guys are all smashing it out of the park for Britain in that regard! :-) G

My husband intends to work for another 3 years or so, I shall not discourage him as he loves the mental challenge and my fabric pile isn't big enough yet.

Our friend is 76 and works two and a half days a week in a fancy clothes shop. I don’t think she actually makes any money though, she spends a fortune on clothes even with her staff discount.

Wears things for a few months then off to the charity shop with them 😂

I think of my retirement as opening up opportunities for younger people to make another step up the ladder. I haven’t missed it for a second

I met another one of those people who think that retiring young is stupid, that you’ll get bored and fall into decline. I struggle to explain exactly how I won’t because I don’t have plans that are concrete enough to convince them.

Who are these folks who think you HAVE to have "concrete plans" otherwise we wither & die? An interest in life in general is all you need, and enjoy where the journey takes you.

We have no plans other than to have a mostly empty calendar so we can be spontaneous and do whatever we like. 4 years for me so far and I’ve not regretted a moment. Freedom was what I wanted from retirement, not lots of other commitments. :)

Gotta go, I have Flu jab/Covid Booster at the docs at 10:27am, and I have a wide load on the A34 to avoid :-) #concreteplans :-)
