I have resisted the demands from my family for a Dog for precisely that reason HG as it complicates any travels we might want to undertake

Sigh
Our dog hasn't complicated our retirement, we just include the cost of kennels in our holiday plans. She's definitely been a positive addition to the family. |

We're happy to self cater here in the UK - for us the positives of a dog (or two ) outweigh the negatives of the restrictions that puts on us - but we're all different and other choices are equally valid . Just back from our first meal out with our 4 month old Springer. Settling in a coffee shop/pub/restaurant is still a work in progress but he's coming along. |

We don’t have passports so yes UK for us! Ozzy 🐈⬛ doesn’t like cars so our restriction is travel time really But they enjoyed the break I think 😁 |

I'm not sure what mine would like less, a cattery going somewhere else. I'd be worried they'd disappear and try and find their way home. I'd rather do what we do and leave them home alone with a friend feeding them twice a day.

Ours are house cats so used to bring indoors But the problems ozzy had with his bladder can be triggered by stress and he doesn’t like strangers! |

We have a good local cattery, the only problem is the cats get fat with the lack of exercise when we’re away for a long time.

We have brilliant dog boarders nearby but it does hike up the cost of a holiday at £20 a night.
