An international art dealer is a posh way of saying shop keeper. I would often say, when people asked, I have a shop. Or I am a shop keeper.

Merry Christmas and Happy NewG(rrr)
In my Chewie, We're Home blog, I've said a bit about my entrepreneurial past and why I'd like to stop doing what I do.

Did we decide if "stopping doing what I do, but maybe still doing something else, few hours/days, less stress, earning far less money, but which makes me happier" counts as retiring, or just change in job/career? :-) G

International arts dealer could be easily misheard as international arms dealer, with hilarious consequences.

Totally, :) G. I suspect the most employable and useful of my offspring are the ones who do hands-on jobs in hospitality.

I have taken a little Christmas temp job and am finding it so refreshing to work with lovely people. Added bonus is walking out each day and forgetting all about work.

Only this week and next week to go and its over

Yup! This has happened!
I was once introducing myself to a bloke, we were both on horseback outdoors, and he heard "arms dealer" he said he was also an "art dealer" and how rare it was to meet another, let alone a female one! He asked who my clients were and that is when we found out 😂

I spent most of my 20s mucking about: travelling interspersed with bit of temporary and/or part-time work. I then worked in supported housing, then FE/HE student services until I was made redundant, then finally in mental health support for a local charity. The last job was great when it started, but then got recommissioned by the NHS and re-managed into something completely different, so I left. I now muck about again, lots of travelling but no work this time.
Although at some point I might have to do a bit more work as I might run out of money...
Overall, I think I've been lucky, both with jobs that I mostly enjoyed, and a great non-work life.

So when an employer cuts redundancy terms by 50% is that a sign something is afoot ? We haven’t even finished the current round of redundancies. Maybe i should have pushed my case a few weeks back

Oh and those leading paternity benefits, they are slashed also, not that i am of an age to use those now anyway

It’s almost like they are pushing peopl to leave

On the plus side, day one in the new fund produced some nice returns
