tee hee I would really like to be able to run when I want rather than having to get up at stupid o'clock to run - I know Ness does but I am a fan of my bed LOL Last week I didn't set an alarm all week but was up by 8 which is just perfect

plus ATM I have to decide - run or weights (etc) I don't have time to do both in a day unlike Ness and Vrap then if I plan everything in I end up with no rest days!

Mrs Axe and I have tentatively discussed a 1 year delay to summer 25 for our retirement. While summer 24 remains the aim, that extra year saving and with a July 2025 wedding would just remove any doubt. We will keep this under review
HG - you wife sounds like my parents. Well my Mum. She worked to 65 and my dad until his early 70s. Any talk of my retirement is frowned upon.

I cycle to work at the moment so I like to think I use work for exercise But the idea of not having to get up and cycle to work is much more appealing

*applauds* Though slightly caveat (that I know HappyT will get - as a fellow horsey person) - horses, innit?! Once house paid off, the horses are a massive financial burden. So my missus would happily work until in grave to support her horse habit. Me, not so much! G
Sister lasted less than a month retired and has gone back to full time work - probably to pay for her horse habit. Think she’s mad, how can she enjoy the horses properly if she’s working all the time? But each to their own.
I thought I might get bored, but really get irritated that my life still isn’t really my own and don’t get to do half as much as I want to

I have to say work could be pretty boring at times.
Also: Hectic Stressful Demanding Fruitless Spending time with people you would rather not spend time with Bosses
Don’t get much of those when you are retired.

HG I only partially agree. Yes horses/ownership can be fairly costly. However with your own place and knowledge on doing some of the nursing stuff you can get a lot of "horse" for those say c. £400/month car payments (which are also life choices)

This is very true, JB. I have gone to work while ill in the past because it was preferable to being at home, but that was because I had a home situation that needed to change.
I'm where Rosehip is with regard to sometimes finding it frustrating that I'm still on other people's timetables to some extent, but I'm hoping that will improve when eL Bee! stops work.
