Ah, this is the thread I need! To be able to afford any "treats" this year, we either need more income (which ain't gonna happen) or make savings on our already tight household budget. My life seems to revolve around my budget spreadsheet!

Good news when I got home tonight. We got our power meters read for the first time in ages. The months spent living with the thermostat turned down, and with hardly any lights on has paid off; direct debit has been cut by £20 a month. :-)

Two words - eBay. Ok one word but if I say two, it's like you're getting more for less ;-)

Actually I do have some stuff to put on ebay, I just need to find the time to take photos and write descriptions. I also have a lack of post office issue.

Glasses my binz are knackered beyond belief, they truely have a scatch coating now. 'cos I blind as a bat I get the stupidly expensive thin lenses which always mean the 2 for £69 offers are don't work for me. Boots want £190 for the ultra thin lenses (I went there as you can download a voucher to get your sight test for a tenner with no onligation to buy their gogs) So they are out of the prefered supplier slot. Spec savers do the lenses for £90 which is handy, but I was diected toward 'glasses direct' who look like I can get a similar price to specsavers with the UV coating thrown on. Anyone used them before or am I the guniea pig here?
