Yes, renegade rows wouldn't be an exercise I'd recommend to a complete beginner.
You need to have awareness of your core to prevent twisting and a decent amount of strength and balance to do them properly. You can get a similar effect in the major working muscles (trapezius and latissimus dorsi?) with a bent over row. The renegade gives you a bit of abdominal tension too.
I do love whole body exercises

The renegade rows were easy. I should have used a weight closer to that I use for bent-over rows. I found it hardest on my palms because I didn't take my little mitts with me.
The single-leg dead lifts were an absolute sod. I've forgotten how to stand on one leg since the last time I tried this.

Are there lady-planks? Or is the choice between planks and man-planks?

It's a choice between man-planks and bent-over rows. I'm not sure that planks actually do anything other than make me miserable.

Post-parkrun, pre-cake core session completed this morning. Logged as well. It's almost as if I want to do these things.

I want to stop very shortly after I start.
Step-ups, reverse planks, odd front planks where you shuffle up and down a bench and some glute bridges tonight.

Body pump last night and pilates tonight. That's my main core for the week. Might fit in one more session on Thu or Fri. :-)G
