Nice going. I've been doing 25 situps in the morning and evening. I should get back onto the planks...though I find they kill my lower back. Need to do some back exercises as well to keep those muscles happy too. Bent rows, dead lifts...also some shoulder exercises...the sprinters one imitating arm movements running holding dumbbells. OH has been doing that one recently and his shoulder definition has come along leaps and bounds...unfortunately it makes his arms look smaller (though they're not!). |

Woke up this morning feeling very achey around the core area as yesterdays strength session was done on a very steep wet grass hill so must have been using my core muscles to stabalize making my planned session of 6 x 1 minutes planks (60 secs rec) tough this morning. It's working though as four weeks ago i was really struggling with 2 x 1 minute.

Spotted this via the Freestak Facebook page active.com 4 strength exercises for runners. Squats, single-leg deadlifts, press-ups and renegade rows. The last of them looks hideous but that's tonight's core session sorted after I've finished my coaching practice.

The Scribbler
Not just for men Rich I do these when my PT is feeling particularly brutal. A slightly easier adaptation is to have one hand on a step or similar and just raise the weight with the opposite arm.

Tidy link Rich, did 10 minutes this morning, will have a crack at them next time. Going to get a foam roller today too.

I have so far not been manly enough for man-planks, Scribbler. I couldn't be without my foam roller, TT. |

I was horrified when someone first suggested renegade rows to me ( I (used to) have the upper body strength of a wet paper bag), but they aren't that bad. Start with small weights, and don't rotate the trunk too much

Fravage - that was my first thought was, risk or rotating the torso and putting strain on lower back. But if it's just dumbell raises, with a plank thrown in for good measure, looks like a good one! :-)G
