There was some pedal talk a couple of pages back about SPDs vs Flats. I'm still using flats and don't think I want to move to SPDs, but at the moment just using a pair of old trail running shoes.

What's recommended if I was to get something a bit more specific ? A guy I used to bike with always wore Five Ten ( not sure which model ), are they still best, or any other makes/models recommended ?

I've got a pair of Five Tens for use with flatties.

I'm 100% clipless on my road bikes, and normally have SPDs on my hardtail. WHich is possibly why I hardly ever ride it off road.

I've been wearing 5:10 climbing shoes for about 20 years and can vouch for the stickiness of their Stealth rubber. Can't really remember flat pedals. I've got Time pedals which are (opinion) easier to get out of quickly without twisting parts of your leg off.

Five tens are usually the shoe of choice if you're running flats.

Apparently so, although Shimano also do some pretty good flat specific shoes.

Since the last appearance of Kaph, some time ago... there are now three wheel sizes, and now new plus (+) tyres for the even more adventurous!

26 / 27.5 (650b) / 29 / 27.5+ (650b+) / 29+ / fat
whatever you ride, enjoy it :)

Gravel also welcome :)

Also, is 26 dead yet?
