Fields, when you get a quote, one of the things the installer will do is use your location, aspect of your property etc. to get a figure for the % of sun that your specific location can convert into electricity (irradiance factor? I might have got that wrong!). It will tell you for each panel, how many kWh per year of electricity you will be generating. G

From a poll of 511 Conservative party members in the last week (relevant to the next Tory leader and hence PM for next year or two) twitter.com Oh my gosh, who ARE these people?! ""Do you think the UK government are currently underreacting or overreacting to climate change, or are they getting the balance about right?" Underreacting - 22% Overreacting - 37% About right - 30% " Overreacting?! Wtaf?! Grrr |

Maybe a few heat-related deaths in the current heatwave will change some minds. But unless it happens to someone "close", I wouldn't bet on it. After all, the rest of the poll questions seem to show a limited amount of compassion and empathy for the "other" too. Unless we get a small miracle and a popular, unexpectedly tough but climate-championing Prime Minister out of the current shenanigans I think it is probably going to need some other solutions than simply "electoral change".

I very much fear that it will take societal collapse for the majority of people to realise they should have done something while they still could 😭☹️😢

I really don't think hot summers in the UK are the clinching argument that some seem to believe. I'm enjoying wearing shorts and having the heating off for a couple of weeks. That's not to say that heat stress isn't a serious problem in some parts of the world. And of course global warming is a big issue for all sorts of reasons. However, a bit of warm weather in the UK really isn't one of them. |

Oh, I agree, jda. But for most older folk (who make up a sizable chunk of the Conservative support) "Climate change"="global warming" still - which means nicer summers (except it doesn't).
