Eat your Weetabix and scrape out the leftovers.
Porridge is one of the test soils because it is so difficult. The others are tea, dried milk, egg, spinach, mince and margarine. The test detergent is not the same as the ones in the shops, but all machines have to reach a certain, high, level of cleaning and drying on the eco program. And there's not a lot of difference in performance these days, you're paying for convenience and longevity.
DWs are loads better than they were 20 years ago. The UK has a low take up because our kitchens are so small.

Mine needs rinsing as it would stink if it was sat in there dirty for a week.

Most other countries have their washing machines in a place other than the kitchen so that's the space where they are able to put their dishwashers.

It must be very annoying not having the dishwasher in the kitchen.

My biggest nightmare is the white tin casserole that I use for meatballs- the tomato sauce doesn't always come off on my 30 minutes. I have persuaded OH that we will be using the DW tonight as he is watching the football and I ain't washing the dishes.

I can fit lots of stuff in the dishwasher. Other household occupants put it on half bloody empty because they're sodding incapable of putting things in sensible places.
The most annoying one? Bowls face down on top of other bowls. How the bloody hell do they think the second one will get clean?

I am so glad to read that someone else (Sinj a few pages back I think??) also rotates the crockery so that the stuff straight out of the dishwasher goes to the bottom of the pile in order to make sure that the pattern doesn't get washed off the same few plates etc that are always used and the others remain pristine. That is exactly what I do too!
