GM - train to London and another to Reading? It's often cheaper doing two fares rather than the one.

I won't have time, McG. If I leave Scunthorpe on the first train at 5:45am and went via London, I'd arrive in Reading at 11:45am.

Oh that's a shame. Didn't realise it took quite so long.

It's the number of changes that make it a long journey.

Sorry to hear that GM!

I wrote a big long thing about the route but my laptop swallowed it.

Dang
This is Wavey Davey's proposed route that will get a bit of a tweaking to be a bit longer up the Kennet for the longer route, the shorter route will do some bridges near the pub and head off to the Thames bit, with the hope the longer route folks join us towards the end. Walkers can head straight to the Thames bit :)

Just need to cycle it next week and check it's all passable and how far up the Kennet it's worth going.

I'm toying with the idea...though it depends on how long my long run should be that weekend.

You could start in Newbury and follow the Kennet all the way to the pub for about 20 miles ;)

She could trot up the Basingstoke Canal then onto the Blackwater river, then up the Loddon before joining the Thames. Maybe 40-50 miles? Ought to be long enough :)

At 39.00 quid for my train, I'll be driving. I'll also be eating. Hope I'll be up to doing the 10 miles.
