I might be able to make this now but I probably won't be able to confirm until a day or so before (ad hoc/short notice toddler-wrangling is going to be the name of the game from now on, I think).

Fingers crossed Paula. I am in for the run but may have to bail on lunch - it is my new adopted niece birthday that week and not sure when we are required for celebrations. Am hassling ploddington bear to come too and she is thinking about it

I'm still keen. I think I'll probably stay somewhere on Friday night and possibly do a parkrun before the TBC.

I will be dependent on Southern running some trains, but they don't usually strike at weekends

Once you get to Gatwick/Redhill, there's the joy of Great Western to take you the rest of the way.

GWR took me to Cardiff last week: no strikes, very comfortable and free wifi

Hm, not really. I think this bit only works as they have the three-carriage crappy trains they're had for yonks and they go into their own dedicated bit in Reading. Plus they don't share much of that line with any other operating companies. Beyond Reading, GWR are as cack as the rest of em.
