Fewer club entries? Nice that they're valuing runners who have shown a commitment to the sport π€

My club would take a dozen and I'm sure FERC would too.

I am shocked so few (69%) of club places were used. I was going to enter our club ballot for a place, but decided not to to allow someone who had not done it before a chance, and the competetion for the people who want to do it is immense. Our club require that you run 6 club runs and attend a quite large amount of club training runs, and the numbers in our club have shot up since people didnt get in on the normal ballot. I'm sure it would be severely looked down on within the club, if someone got the club place and didnt run. |

I wonder if that 31% are places allocated to clubs but nobody wanted to run, or places where a club member was given the place but didnβt run (or a mixture of those). I can image some smaller clubs a long way from London might not have anyone who wants to take up a place. |

Disappointing to hear. If their facts are right, I can understand the reasoning. A pity considering that a lot of those taking part (like the so called celebs) probably would not even consider taking part in any other event.

My club had lots of applicants for two places last year. I suspect one of the people chosen and the first reserve declined their places so that the person who was second reserve could run as he's a club stalwart and it would be his first marathon.

Timeline for GFA applications has been shifted out by a month⦠The opportunity to apply for a Good For Age place in the 2024 TCS London Marathon is going to be a little later than originally planned and will now be available on this page by the end of September 2023. tcslondonmarathon.com |

The deadline for running the GFA time appears to be unchanged.
