Ooh, an article, that's great idea, thanks LindsD. I'm still searching for my over-arching research question. At the moment it still feels like I'm 'just' writing a book.

I can't even wrap my head around contemplating any more written work.
I have to do; 3000 word essay on leadership and management 3500 word essay on something (not looked yet!) 3000 word report 9000 word dissertation 21 weeks of full-time placement in at least two different places. Something else I've forgotten. ..
By the 30th August or everything has been in vain. I have about six weeks until I'll be in placement.

Don't think of it like that. Just focus on the first deadline, and think of that. Or smaller chunks if you need to (())

KK: if you’ve only just done your confirmation then you’re still feeling your way a bit (that’s what I found) Research questions are evolving things, I had to rewrite some of mine after the viva

You'll get there carp. Set deadlines for each, so you've got at least something written for everything by the deadline. If it were me, I'd probably try to do the dissertation in the six weeks before the placement starts, then allow maybe four weeks for each of the shorter ones while on placement, and then go back to edit in the final weeks.
(Although given I'm spending a weekend writing a paper which has already had two extensions to the deadline, I'm probably not the best one to advise.)

Carp: listen to LindsD and Grast_girl, they speak a lot of sense. I do find it difficult to narrow things down to bite sized chunks at the moment though. I keep feeling that I have to define the big-vision stuff, but it's a bit overwhelming and gets me nowhere.
Dr Fleecy, people keep telling me that the research question will present itself, and the more people that say that, the more I will have to believe it. I have difficulty in killing the nagging suspicion that I should know it by now!
I'm also terrified of being accused of stating the bleedin' obvious, but I'm told that a doctorate is precisely the place to do that; it just feels that everything I'm being encouraged to do is going against every instinct.

It’s only obvious if you’ve done a fuckton of reading about it

OK, time to have a bit more confidence in what I'm doing, it seems. Thanks Dr Fleecy, your help is much appreciated.
