Don't worry too much. I can't speak for other people, but I don't ever check the word count unless it's very obviously too long or too short.

Ditto LindsD. It's mostly there to stop people droning on without saying very much. If it's good stuff I don't even notice it's too long (unless it's hugely over or under).

We were told specifically not one word over 3500 but we could go up to 10% under. I don't think I've gone over but hey it is what is now

Had my meeting and received good feedback from both uni and the trust 😊 I have raised the issue about capping my academic work because of the late practice submission and see where that gets me. Apparently jobs will be advertised in January for us to apply for then they will short list from there. Not due to finish until July 12th. I have been reassured I can take time off the course if needed to due my circumstances at present and even though the following cohort is ran slightly differently they will be able to taylor aspects of it for me. I really hope I won't have to take that option though. I can also have the option of a slight extension if I need to make up practice hours at the end if needed
Feeling a bit more relaxed now

Ok so update. E-portfolio submitted, difficult subject for me atm but done it. Got the result and passed so objective completed. Not the best grade at 56% but given how things are atm with my mums diagnosis I'm happy that I past it.
Trust has sent out preliminary job offers on condition we pass our course. We had to say I'd we are intending on staying with the Trust and where we wanted to work, we were given three blank spaces to fill in. I only really have one place I want to go to which is where I came from. However I have had a really good placement where I've just finished so put them down as second choice and left it like that. I went to the department I want to go to (place I worked before starting training) to let them know the situation. I think lucky for me matron was there. So I told them and said I wasn't willing to work anywhere else and would be leaving the Trust to work in the same speciality somewhere else if I didn't get back in. Matron tried to get me to consider somewhere else within the same area (head and neck) but I told her no that this department was my passion and if it meant leaving the team I love then I would. I also told them I wanted to continue with the top up to go to band 5. That mightve been a mistake as they are short staffed and would need someone who joins to be full time in the dept. The top up wod mean I'd be part time I think about 12 1/5 hours a week study. They had a brief consultation while I was there trying to work out if it was feasible and I left so 🤞
So Monday sees me start my final placement on a medical short stay ward with last day being 12th July. It's scary it's so close and I feel very unprepared so hoping that it all starts to 'come together' I got really good feedback from my last placement the deputy sister said she thinks I'm ready to qualify just need the experience from my next placement to polish me off but she would be happy to see me as a ney qualified nurse associate now. I don't think I've ever had that said before so I'm obviously really happy with that. I am worried though that my trust seems to want to try and use us as band 5 nurses which we most definitely aren't. Time will see with how things work out.
