Welcome all newbies! All welcome here.

I only ever knew one student who was not a last-minute merchant and he was weird. Got a first, though.

Mr LindsD just looks at me and says 'have you done any work on your PhD today?' and it makes me feel bad..... :(

HowFar?
Our assignments have to be be posted by 4:00pm on the day they are due. I have to enclose proof of posting with the time on it. My last one was 3:57:58.

In my defence I did get to the post office at 3:35, only to find that it was shut so I had quite a frantic cycle down the road.

Squares
My PhD was submitted at two minutes to five on the 30th September (last possible day without applying for an extension)
And that meant Mr Squares running across campus from the bindery to my school :-)

Don't hate me but I am not a last minute kinda gal. I think doing my OU degree whilst QP was very little and being a single parent into the bargain instilled a certain attitude. I had to be super organised and ahead of the game a lot of the time. I have had my last couple of ARs pretty much finished a week or so before deadline.

I am under no illusions that I will just knock out 500 words per study day that easily - I have to finish my analysis and actually read the stuff I have gathered for my lit review for starters. However, I have learnt that if I thoroughly plan (with a mind map) what I am going to put in each section I can bash out a decent amount of words much more quickly. I intend to break it down into chunks and deal with it a chunk at a time.

Of course faffing on fetch and FB is not getting any words written - well not ones that count anyway.

Thought I'd join this thread as it is 9 weeks until my thesis deadline for my professional doctorate! Currently my papers are a mess (we submit journal papers rather than chapter-based thesis) and I'm hoping to get my last bit of data this afternoon (had 2 failed attempts last week so fingers crossed!)

I have days of being very productive and days where I hardly do anything. Last week I was working on my introduction for one of my papers and it was incredibly slow as it needed a lot of references.

I have until 6th May off work (combination of study days/ weekends/ bank holidays/ annual leave) so hoping to have some good drafts done by then, probably without discussion sections though.

Good luck to everyone else

I have absolutely no idea how to approach my next assignment.. I've never done a literature review and have 0 idea of how to begin it and my tutor has ignored my request for help..

Have you asked your library? Is it a systematic review? My uni library did amazing 1:1 teaching sessions on it, might be worth investigating?

I'm studying with the OU. In the past I've had some excellent help from tutors and OU staff.. this year I don't seem to be able to get anything from them at all.

I was going to get loads done over the Easter weekend. Predictably I've done bugger all and now feel really guilty about it.

I have to send a completed chapter to my supervisor on Friday. At the moment it's only about 75% complete :-O

Hopefully other people have been more productive :-)
