you must have some course guidelines on what is expected, Jambombo? My friend's undergrad 'dissertation' is just a glorified literature review to justify a research question, but usually it's a lit review followed by presenting research of some kind. A lit review is a summary and critique of a bunch of papers/books relevant to the question you're asking, presented as an argument to justify that question. It's surveying the scene of what we currently know on a particular subject, spotting a gap and then doing some research to fill that gap.

Jambomo the first thing I would do is to have a look at completed dissertations produced by students from your department.

Have sent you an fmail Jambomo but then realised I have no idea what your area of study is. I guess psychology writing is different to other areas. Having said that I will be trying to break out of the traditional quantitative format myself :-o

Jambomo is doing erm something to do with libraries isn't it? I can imagine the general ideas are pretty similar. Our uni admin office at my previous uni had high-scoring MSc dissertations from previous years available to borrow, useful to see the format required.

Our VLE (virtual learning environment) has pretty much all the theses (chortle) since time began. Sometimes it confuses me more looking at them though.

I just borrowed one so I could copy the exact format required (they were really strict on APA bollocks) and didn't look at any others.

Thanks guys, especially Halfpint for the e-mailed info. I have seen some dissertations but these were for practice based ones which are different and written differently to mine. Mine is on the falsification/me provide in maxi germany.
