Hi ,
It looks like you're using an ad blocker.

The revenue generated from the adverts on the site is a critical part of our funding - and it's because of these ads that I can offer the site for free. But using the site for free AND blocking the ads doesn't feel like a great thing to do, which is why this box is so large and inconvenient. Some sites will completely block your access, but I'm not doing that - I'm appealing to your good nature instead. Did you know that you can allow ads for specific sites, whilst still blocking them on others?

Thanks,
Ian Williams aka Fetch

Cuthbert is in hospital and I don't think he will be back at school this term. I'm trying to figure what I need to ask school for

One of T13s friends has moved to a little Self Managed Learning school & seems very happy. I am envious. I feel T13 has been squashed by mainstream school and has no passion to learn. When he was little I had dreams of having play based learning, forest school, devouring knowledge, writing reams, being creative, being outdoors... Mr W is very pro mainstream and fees would be a huge problem, so we took the easy path. Mum Guilt.

It sounds as though you took the practical route, LizzieW, especially if the fees are high. Are there holiday activities he can do which are along the lines of what you list?

Best wishes for Cuthbert LF.

IB results day yesterday - daughter got pretty much what she thought she would. Nothing bad, nothing stellar, a mix of 5s and 6s (top mark is 7 in IB) and a total of 34.

In one subject she would have got a higher grade if she'd got just one more mark; in another she was three off the top grade. Those two higher grades would have opened up more university places but it's pricey to request a re-mark and of course no guarantee it would go our way.

She'll be on the phone tomorrow to talk to her target universities.

Hugs to everyone who needs them.

Well done S. We have done a remark for two kids and neither time was it successful. I wouldn't bother again.

Well done mini SK
I think pragmatic is fair enough, mainstream has its pros and cons. Teen would have won and lost in a different environment - she has had both more opportunity and more pressure

Cuthbert is now waiting for neurosurgery within the next 10 days or so. We have decided not to send him in whilst he is waiting. School have been fine about it. He would break up on Thursday anyway and they are doing a week od enrichment activities rather than proper lessons anyway.
