There are definitely issues with inclusion: access to cheap/unmetered internet, reliability of connection, country firewalls blocking key sites on a whim (China), technology (laptop, headphones, camera and microphone), quiet spaces to work, access to library books and training courses, higher level access to learning support (scribes, prompts, BSL interpreters etc). Our uni hasn't loaned out laptops, but has provided a separate fund for students who need to buy technology (probably not enough per student, but they tried). |

Thanks TeeBee the spreadsheet he links to at the end will be really helpful I think, as well as his comments on being present.

Hello, just found this thread. I'm a part-time tutor with the Open University (alongside a research job at Kingston which rarely involves teaching). I'm pretty sure some of my students have had help with funding their technological bits and pieces. |

Many businesses used to turn over their machines every 5 years. Also have had a refurbished laptop for over 5 years. It was dirt cheap at the time. Places like DELL & other vendors offer refurbished laptops and PCs for less than 200 GBP.... though my laptop doesn't have a GBP symbol LOL

We have 9 bubbles of 15 children - 2 Y6 groups (luckily not all of them wanted to come back as there are 36 in Y6!); 1 Nursery; 2 Reception/Year 1 and 2 Year 1/Year 2 depending on various circumstances. Two keyworker groups - 1 Y3/4 1 Y5/6. They will have no more than 15 on any day but the actual children in them rotate around the shifts of a larger number. Each group has a T and a TA and some also have their own lunchtime supervisor. Each group has a staggered playtime and lunchtime (sandwiches in class) and their own playing out space... TAs provide cover for PPA; cover each others' breaks and have half an hour each for lunch. Phew! |
