Might still be able to get into Bedford Half LBM?

I broke 85 with 84:52 at the start of the year but havent raced any since January. Looking to go closer to 80 at 4 Villages in January and MK in March.

In terms of advice for those looking to break 85 in the near future, I found running faster really helped me achieve my goal.

Thanks Willymo, but I heard it was full? I hear it's a hilly course though too?

lol at your comment... "In terms of advice for those looking to break 85 in the near future, I found running faster really helped me achieve my goal" ...yes, that worked for me too when attempting other goals :-)

I couldn't work out whether Willymo was being extraordinarily sarcastic, or referring to increasing the number and pace of his quality sessions... I laughed, then pondered, then smirked, then thought, then decided not to post anything...

Its not overly hilly LBM, although tends to be awful weather. Doesn't matter if its full anyway.

I'm glad you both enjoyed my comment. If you need any advice on breaking targets at other distances I will be only too happy to help.

Ok so 1st target of Barcalona is already shelved as have to have an Op on Bladder on 19th Jan.... so looks like 1st big attampt allbing well will be White Horse.... the Op will probably knock any plans for a fast mara so may just do Brighton to get round....

Happy New Year all and heres hoping that 2012 brings our targets and goals to life and fulfilment

Matt - please be careful setting a goal barely 3 months after surgery. You need to be sure you are fully recovered before you start training and with a goal date in mind the temptation is to start training too early and pushing too hard.

Gobi

ps. I have decided to use the Willymo plan to break 70 minutes, all I have to do is run faster :¬)

RFJ - why not have a break from marathons and focus on your half? You could use the time to build up from surgery and make a dent in your half time - might make your marathon faster in time as well?

I'm going to possibly break with tradition and not run a half this spring prior to marathon - got a lot on workwise and looks like I won't be free for racing till lastt weekend in March. I was thinking of doing a 10k and a 10miler pre-marathon instead. Though I really want a 1.23 or less half..
