Nice work James. Tasty running. Good luck for next weekend Duck, MPH and Chris!
Had a 10 mile race last Sat, and finished in 63mins flat, not really according to plan, given that I'm pretty sure the first 10miles of my last half were around 61mins. My legs didn't feel great even before the start so wasn't too surprised though. Think it was a combination of being only two days after a hard session, having eased off general training since the half, stopping to tie a shoelace (schoolboy error!!) and a bit of wind on the day.
Still it was a pb by more than a min so can't be too disappointed. Actually reqally enjoy 10 milers, shame there aren't more around.

Sounds similar to my 10 miler Paul and I too enjoyed the distance.
Not too sure on my approach to this week, I have a 9 mile run home tonight which I'm planning at 6.45 pace (with a strong tail wind), a 9 mile run in to work in the morning around 7.30-8 pace, then an easy 7 on wednesday and finally treat my legs to 3 days off before Sunday.

Good work on the pb Paul, sun 60 is a goal for me and I've only run 1 10 miler, but also really enjoyed it!
The week before taper is a funny thing hey, I've been training quite hard since Jan, so I'll probably cut right back the week leading up, I have this planned so far:
Date Session Run miles Mon-16-Mar-15 rest 0 Tue-17-Mar-15 easy 6 + strides pre work 6 Wed-18-Mar-15 easy + track (4x1200@ LT, 4x200m @R) 10 Thu-19-Mar-15 rest 0 Fri-20-Mar-15 easy 6 + strides pre work 6 Sat-21-Mar-15 easy 4 + stridesĀ 4 Sun-22-Mar-15 Stafford half 13

Actually, planning the same for this week for Saturdays 10K. The only real effort is the 4x1200s at LT, but with enough recovery, should be ok.

I ran 17 miles Saturday and 6 miles easy Sunday morning before managing a windy 10k in only 13s above my PB. Tapering is overrated ;-). I will probably not repeat that level of work before Inverness Half on Sunday however.

Looks good MPH, those 1200s look ok from here. What recovery were you planning?
Last session this evening. 4k @ 5:48/m. Easy and strides from here on!

I was thinking 3 mins easy jog. Being honest I'm just copying the final workout before the big race in the JD 5-15K training plan.
Easy 6 miles plod this morning, boy oh boy that rain/wind!

Chris, I felt the same on Thursday, just very strange sensations! I think you just need to hve confidence in the training & do some strides to get sharp in the lead up.
In Paris & have managed to get my pen upgraded to Preferential owing to my time from last year, which = less traffic and hopefully faster times weather looking great for it.
Who is doing Inverness? Wind is looking like it could play a big part there.
