I'll buck the trend here then. Cambridge half was a race of 2 halves. up to 7 miles I averaged 6.03 pace then my hamstring, which has been niggling me for a few weeks, tightened big time so I had to ease off to come home in 1.21.52. Was feeling fairly tired at the end so, being realistic, I'm not sure a sub 80 would have been on.

On the plus side it was still 30 seconds faster than last year and I went through 10 miles in a pb time.

Cheers guys, was very surprising, seeing as I was actually just hoping for 36:30! Never really won anything like this before, but seem to have paid the price as my groin area top of the quad on the inside is quite painful, hurts to walk, move the leg slowly but running is ok. Annoying as my target 1/2 is in 2 weeks. Will just do some easy runs this week and see how it goes.

How is the quad/groin MPH?

Anyone racing this weekend? Garioch 10k here, really training through but given how Paris went and this evening's session I would hope a pb is on the cards (currently 35.28).

8M @ 6:01/m this evening, felt relaxed and aerobically really controlled. Very happy.

Hey TD. Good thanks, the pain has now switched to my foot, honestly! Feels like a bruised trapped nerve, pains on the top of the foot, but getting better and won't impact Sunday.

Have the Stafford half on Sunday, will go out at 6 min pace and see how long I can hold on, whether that's 78/79 I'm not sure, but should be a big pb!

After a few key races a few weeks apart, I'm gagging to get back into a big training block, these tapers, even mini ones I find painful. No key races now till June, so can get some big miles in now I hope. Will still race of course, but no tapers, or care for times.

What will you go for in Garioch TD? 8 miles at 6 min pace, should bode well for low 5:30s:?

Afternoon all, 34.58 today at Garioch, a tough ol' course! Legs felt surprisingly good, but lacking the freshness of 2 weeks ago unsurprisingly.

Ended up 5th, dropped the guy I was with after 7k so happy to have a hard solo effort last few k.

Last year dipped under 1:20 with a good 1:18:11 at Coventry this year managed to go better at Warwick which was a bit hilly in the first half but ran a blinder in 1:17:30 with a negative split. 38:52 for first half and 38:38 for second half :) chuffed to bits. Came 7th overall too
