London GFA confirmed. That will be London number 12. It's 8 weeks after Tokyo, so should be enough time to recover and maintain marathon fitness. See you in The Chandos, @OO61 Did you enter, DT? |

Have a look at the Whanganui 3 Bridges Marathon @Mark J π³πΏ . Advantages: * 4 laps, good for support and logistics * Flat * Good underfoot * Scenic * Most years you could match my top 5 finish. Disadvantages: * 4 laps! * Quiet * It's Whanganui. |

With my 3:01 in february this year in a training race, without any real taper, i was pretty sure i would make the cut finally, with several more races still to do with better preparations. But i didn't ![]() I guess you have to have a bit of luck too, or rather not to be unlucky all the time. 5 marathons all together, Next 4 ones after the 3:01. - One bonked in the heat, DNF - One barely got done after a bout with the lurgy, 3:23 or something. - The A race for the year, crashed and burned after being floored with fever and shit just a few days before. DNF - And the last one i just about only carried through to see if i maybe was alright again, i wasn't. 3:13 or something like that. Got prescribed antibiotics the day after for a persistent Sinusitis that had been lingering for months.. In 2025 i may try a few more races, but also will consider a solo effort sometime when i'm healthy and fit. Marathons are hard. ![]() |

I think you nailed it with your last point @Bowman πΈπͺ, all the training you put in before each of the marathons will have made you stronger and mean that sub-3 is all the sweeter in 2025. You can't (fully) control how well you're going to be when you reach the start lines, and you seem to have had dreadful luck with ilness/viruses/weather this past year. I'd have you at a short price to take down a sub-3 marathon in 2025, it's just about training as you have been and getting to the start line of a marathon in decent conditions when you are both healthy and positive. |

Happiness does not come from doing easy work but from the afterglow of satisfaction that comes after the achievement of a difficult task that demanded our best. (TI Rubin) Remember this quote when you inevitably break 3 hours in 2025 ! |
