@rhb glad you enjoyed the Manchester metric marathon. That is very strong pacing, so I'm sure you'll do very well over the full marathon. It was cool and damp in Chester DT, think I'd prefer the warmth in Chicago. I guess good hydration and the lightest run gear is all you control at this stage. And pack some sun cream and sunnies 😎 |

fabulous run @OO61. I can only imagine what it must feel like to finish so strong! Was that always the plan? Whatever. Brilliant! |

Well done everyone racing over the weekend and a great run @OO61. Really strong finish over the last 5k. It must feel good to have that left in the legs, I'm normally questioning life choices from 22 miles onwards. Forecast for Chicago next Sunday remains warm, although BBC weather suggests it has cooled by a couple of degrees over the last 24 hours. Generally I don't mind warmer races and my PB at London 2011 was in 18-20 degrees, so as long as I grab fluid at every water station, I think I'll be OK. |

@Windsor Wool with thanks again for your info, I've now got Abingdon accom booked 1.5 miles from the start as a room with kitchenette so I can make my own coffee/breakfast early and we're making a family trip of it so I'll be up and out and leaving check-out to them. My warm-up will be a gentle jog over to the event start.

excellent news rhb. Given the nature of the course the family should be able to get to a few spots to cheer you on too 👍🏻 There’s a link to an old blog of mine in the sidebar. Might be worth a read for some insight on the course (if not for all the other hyperbole!). Forecast looks alright too 🤞🏻 |

Abingdon is a nice wee event. I stayed at the premier inn. Got a lift to the start with one fetchie and a lift back towards Oxford for the train from another. Sadly I think that will have been the last marathon I ever run, albeit it was the best |

Good to go out on such a high though Baz!! I trained for several more after *your* day in 2019. COVID robbed me of most of the races and then when I finally got on a start line in 2023 I made a bit of a mess of it! So, now I go out on a low. Never mind. It was a good run of runs. I’m sure you could run another if you wanted to. You run plenty of miles after all. Getting back to sub 3 might be more of a challenge, of course…. |

I did do a virtual VLM afterwards but that doesn’t really count. I do hope to get some more HMs under my belt, but need to get training properly. |
